The mile and a bit climb of Bilsmoor is close to the northernmost reaches of the 106 and 90 mile Cyclone Challenge Rides and comes just before the welcome feed station at Elsdon. Whilst not particularly severe, the climb is exposed, especially to SE winds, and has a ramrod straight final stretch that can seem endless on an inclement day.
The climb has featured in many road races and time trials and is a great favourite of many NE cyclists. In this video, we take you up the climb on a stunning April morning when its other great quality - as a magnificent viewpoint - was very apparent.
Ride Bilsmoor and other great climbs in the area, alongside thousands of other cyclists, in the Cyclone Challenge Rides on 17 June 2017 - More info & entry details
Why not look at our guide to the Ryals climb, a very different challenge that comes much later in the rides.
