Event organiser, Peter Harrison said, “We knew hosting the races, alongside our other Cyclone events, so soon after the move to Step 4 of the Government's easing of Coronavirus restrictions, would be a challenge."
"Rearranging gives us more breathing room, enables more people, including riders, to be vaccinated and gives added reassurance to residents in the locality of the races.”
“We value the incredible support we get from local communities for all our events and would not want to jeopardise it. As always we look forward to welcoming the teams and riders to Northumberland for a great weekend of racing."
The re-schedule is only for the Cyclone Festival of Cycling's two races. The six Cyclone Festival public rides, the Challenge Rides and Tyne 6 Bridges Rides, will go ahead as scheduled, on 2nd and 3rd July.
