The Cyclone Challenge Rides will take you on a great journey encompassing high hills, steep climbs and descents, with some narrow roads, tight bends and testing road surfaces. We believe that a Sportive should be both challenging and engaging for riders, which is why we have included such a variety of roads and landscapes.
However, this does mean that as a cyclist you need to treat the route with respect and it will test you cycling skills and techniques along the way. One skill that will be particularly important to you is cornering and Spring is a great time to give your cycling technique a little thought and perhaps brush up on the basics as well as getting in those training miles.
We recommend the British Cycling and GCN's Ridesmart videos and there are a range of tips on technique, including this excellent video on cornering.

Entries are now available for all six public rides at the 2019 Cyclone Festival of Cycling.

With entry fees the same as last year and the dates set for 5th- 7th July, the 2019 Cyclone Festival of Cycling looks set to continue the fine tradition of this fixture of North-East cycling.

The Festival opens on the evening of Friday 5th July with the Tyne 6 Bridges family/fun rides, along traffic-free routes by the river, for either 10 or 15 miles: More Info/Enter

The Cyclone Challenge Rides take place on Saturday 6th July, with 34, 64, 90 and 104 mile route options, all taking in the breathtaking landscapes of Northumberland: More Info/Enter

The final day of the festival sees elite races for women and men, the Curlew Cup and Beaumont Trophy.
